UPDATE (May 12, 2026): AFSCME Local 127 is currently modernizing our governing documents. In November 2025, a By-Laws Subcommittee was formed to evaluate the Local’s Constitution. Because our current Constitution has not been updated since 2007, this review ensures our rules reflect the needs and challenges of today’s workforce.
The Committee has completed a set of drafted amendments, which are now undergoing an informal review by AFSCME International staff for technical feedback.
The Road to Ratification
Once the draft is finalized, we will follow a transparent, multi-step process to ensure every member has a voice:
- Member Review: The draft amendments will be uploaded directly to this webpage for all members to read.
- The First Reading: The amendments will be read aloud at a General Membership meeting to introduce the changes.
- The Second Reading & Vote: At a subsequent General Membership meeting, the amendments will be read a second time. Immediately following this reading, the membership will vote on whether to ratify the changes.
- Final Approval: If ratified by the membership, the updated Constitution will be sent to the AFSCME International President for a final review and official signature.
