Dear Members of AFSCME Local 127,

AFSCME Local 127 encourages you to attend and participate in two upcoming virtual meetings via Zoom. The purpose of these meetings is (1) to vote on the method of which the leaders of Local 127 will be elected and (2) to nominate members of Local 127 to the elected positions. For reasons discussed below, both meetings are necessary to comply with the Constitution of AFSCME Local 127.

The first meeting is on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 6pm. During this meeting, members will vote on the method of which to elect the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Executive Board Members, and Trustees. See Constitution of AFSCME Local 127, Article VII, § 2. In advance of voting, please be prepared to decide how elections will be held via the following methods: mail ballot, job-site voting, or local union meeting. See Constitution of AFSCME Local 127, Article VII, § 3.

See Constitution of AFSCME Local 127, Article VII, § 2. As specified above, these nominations will include the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Executive Board Members, and Trustees.

To be clear, AFSCME Local 127 is currently in violation of its Constitution. See Constitution of AFSCME Local 127, Article VII, § 2.  This violation justifies the urgency and importance of these meetings to establish the method of voting and to nominate members to the elected positions. That is why AFSCME Local 127 encourages its members to participate in these meetings and to cast their votes.
