AFSCME Endorsement Process of Statewide and California Legislature*

As we head into the upcoming election cycle, we want to share some insight into how candidate and ballot measure endorsements are determined outside of solely decisions by AFSCME Local 127. We know our members hold diverse views, and it is important to us that you understand how these collective decisions are reached.

How the Decision is Made

It is important to clarify that political endorsements are not decided solely by the leadership of AFSCME Local 127. Instead, these endorsements are the result of a unified, democratic process conducted by all AFSCME unions across the State of California.

A Unified Voice

By coordinating through the statewide AFSCME council, we ensure that our voice as public employees is as strong and consistent as possible. This collaborative approach means:

  • Broad Representation: Input is gathered from across the entire state to reflect the needs of all AFSCME members.
  • Statewide Impact: We focus on candidates and policies that will best support public services and labor rights throughout California.
  • Final Authority: While AFSCME Local 127 participates in these discussions, the final determination rests with the statewide union body.

We appreciate the passion and engagement of our members. Our goal is always to keep you informed and to ensure our union remains a powerful advocate for your rights and your future.
